Summary of
Message
Board Rules
FAQ Page with a set of Message Board Rules
will also be
located on the Message Board Page Header
.
They are
intended to make this a friendly, safe
place for Novaliches High School friends &
family to interact. Please familiarize
yourself with the rules and respect them.
Some of our rules are summarized below. If
you have any questions about these rules,
please feel free to contact us we will get
back to you as soon as we can.
Please remember your fellow Message Board
members' feelings, and consider those
feelings before sending potentially
hurtful posts. You may not always agree
with or like your fellow Message Board
members, but other people will. Please be
courteous and keep disagreements civil and
personal problems off the Message Board.
Our future moderators will try and help
settle on-forum problems, but we will not
get involved in off-forum disagreements.
We expect our Message Board members to be
responsible for handling their own
problems.
A
violation of the rules will result in a
warning from the moderators. First offense
will get a warning via private e-mail.
Second offense will result in all your
posts requiring moderator approval
as well as
banning you from the Message Board forever.
The following items are examples of what
will result in moderator warning. These
are only examples. For further information
please see the FAQ and/or Rules pages
(located on the Header Page of the Message
Board):
1. Name calling, personal attacks, and
other "flames" are not allowed.
2.Threats against Message Board members
will not be tolerated in any way, shape or
form, and are grounds for being
immediately banned from the Message Board.
3. Forwarding of Urban Legends, Virus
Hoaxes, Chain Letters or other spam is not
allowed. If you think you have received a
virus warning, never never open them.
We are expecting an extremely busy Message
Board in the very near future, and while
we will allow forwarded jokes, we wish to
keep down the proliferation of false Virus
warnings and Urban Legends as they
unnecessarily cause distress.
Should you feel the need to contact the
moderating committee, please e-mail us at
nhsqcalumni@gmail.com
FORUM ETIQUETTE DETAILS:
The
following are not just rules but also entails common user problems.
There are some important issues covered here, ranging from images, to
flaming, and other issues, all explained in detail or just noted upon. I
will divide this post. More might be added in the future as the need
arises.
1. Flaming
2. Posting Spam and Rubbish
3. Images and Direct Linking

4. Trolls & trolling

This Free Message Board is
generally open.
Moderators will
step in when necessary in order to keep the
peace whenever we feel the need for it.
Keep in mind, that "mods" are not referees.
We will not take sides in a fight, nor will
we get in the middle of one. Rather, the
mods are in place to nip potential problems
in the bud, and will depend heavily on your
own common sense and sense of decency and
caring. Currently we are looking for
volunteers in becoming a Forum Moderator.
This wonderful “title” is now available to
those who think they’re up for the

To help sustain our thriving
On-line Community and create an atmosphere
that NHS will always be our loving home, we
would like to discuss the important rules of
use for NHS On-line Community
Message Board and how
as a family we should work together to
maintain harmony with others.
As a
reminder regarding Your "Rights" at This
Forum: Officially, the only rights
you have here are the rights we provide to
you. This is an on-line community website
and it is run in the way we believe is most
appropriate to facilitate our over-all
goals. We further believe that by setting
rules we are protecting the over-all rights
of NHSOC majority.
Remember, if you invite someone into your
house or place of business, they are to
respect your values and your code of
conduct. If you do not like swearing, that
person will not swear. If you prefer that
someone not discuss religion or politics,
that person will not. If that person does
not like your house rules, then that person
may not return to your house.
This site is our home and you are our valued
guest. We very much would like you to enjoy
your time here -- all that we ask is that
you respect our house rules. If you find
that the rules are not to your liking, then
it may be appropriate for you to not
participate. You are free to set up your own
website and implement your own set of rules.
Also, there is usually a way to express your
opinion without breaking the rules or
offending anyone. Sometimes you just have to
work a bit harder to make it happen!
The rule of
the thumb of course, is to always be
polite!!

Thank you for taking the time to read the
NHS On-line Community
Message Board's Rules of Use. We've
put together a very comprehensive set of
rules for the use of this
message board, and have broken it
down into two sections:
We strongly encourage all current members of
the NHS On-line Community
Message Board to read through the
Full
Message Board Rules
at least once, and refresh your
memories by reviewing
The Nine
Commandments of the Message
Board on a periodic basis.
These rules are subject to change at any
time, however a notification will be posted
in regards to any rule changes/additions as
it occurs.
Thank you for reviewing and abiding by these
rules.

Welcome to
the NHS On-line Community
Message Board Full
Message Board Rules:
This forum and its associated features are
here for the enjoyment of the NHS alumni,
faculty, students, family and friends that
are presented by the NHS On-line Community
and those who are interested in information
about our members or other NHS On-line
Community materials. You are more than
welcome to join up and get involved.
Because this is a non-commercial site
(meaning that we make no money from it), we
have some simple rules. By entering our
discussions, you agree to abide by these
rules and our interpretation of them. The
details are outlined below - please do read
them all,
but the rule of thumb here is:
Be Polite!
In essence, that's all there is to it. We
respect each other. We don't insult people,
we don't antagonize people, we don't swear
or otherwise offend people. Any messages
which is, in the opinion of our
Administrator and Moderators, not suitable
is subject to edit or
deletion. Any visitors who
continually disregard these rules may be
partially or completely banned.
More
specifically (THE NINE COMMANDMENTS OF NHSOC
MESSAGE BOARD):
1. Please do not use profanity on the public
forums. We are filtering for basic keywords.
If you cannot say something without using
profanity then please don't post.
2. Posts that are grossly racist, sexist, or
bigoted are not permitted.
3. Discussion and participation in illegal
activities are absolutely prohibited. This
includes, but is not limited to:
o Piracy (software, audio, video or
otherwise);
o Distribution of Child Pornography;
o Theft or other violations of personal
belongings or private information;
o Violation of copyrights.
4. No SPAM whatsoever. Announcement of
events and activities for fan clubs or other
special interest groups are permitted in the
"Events/Calendar" forum only.
Selling of items may be conducted in the
"Looking for & Alumni Networking.." forum
only. If you run a commercial for-profit
company or corporation and wish to advertise
your company or event, please contact us
privately and we can discuss advertisement
on our website. Violation of this rule will
result in an immediate ban from this site
and notification to your Internet Service
Provider. SPAM threads will be locked and
placed in a hidden forum to be held in the
event that your ISP requires proof of the
activity and violation of their Terms of
Acceptable Use.
5. No Flame Wars. Feel free to rant if you
wish, but no personal attacks. Please do not
post messages in which a subject will be
unduly volatile or will "bait" someone into
a potential flame war. This would include,
but is not limited to:
o Listing who is on your Ignore List / who
has you on their Ignore List;
o Using off-site resources as flame bait;
o Abuse of message
board functions and/or resources.
o Pointing fingers at someone or more as a
flame bait
6. No Adult Content in the general forums
(except for the NHB forum whose
access is by special subscription
only. No underage allowed!!)
7. While we enjoy humour and going off topic
on other parts of the board these sections
should try to restrict to ON TOPIC responses
as necessary.
8. Posts which violate the NHS On-line
Community's contracts with other companies
or individuals will be removed at the sole
discretion of the Site Administrator or
Moderators. Examples may include advertising
other hotels, parking, restaurant, etc. that
the event may have an agreement to not
promote.
9. Public objections to the methods in which
the Site Administrators or Moderators of the
NHS On-line Community
Message Board perform their duties is
strongly discouraged.
Public
dissention does nothing to correct a
problem. If you find that you are in
disagreement with the methods employed by a
Site Administrator or Moderator, please
contact someone from the Administration and
Moderation Team PRIVATELY and discuss the
matter with them, please do not call for or
conduct a public inquiry into the matter.
The authority of the Site Administrators and
Moderators of the NHS On-line Community
Message Board is
absolute. You are strongly encouraged to
adhere to the guidelines set forth in these
rules and to requests made by the Site
Administrators or Moderators of the
message board itself.
Avatars and
Signature Lines
Signatures, avatars and any other graphics
posted to the message
board should not contain any offensive
materials, such as but not limited to:
sexual material, rude language, political,
etc.
Avatars uploaded to the
message board are limited to a
maximum 10 Kilobytes, and a maximum physical
dimensions of 100 pixels wide by 100 pixels
tall. Off-site avatars should likewise be
limited in size and dimention as specified
for uploaded avatars. Refusal to comply with
this size request will result in an
Administrative Deactivation of your avatar.
About
"Free Speech"
The right to free speech guaranteed
within the constitution of your country
specifies that the Federal government will
not interfere with your right to express
yourself. It does not apply to private
individuals or organizations, and most
assuredly does not apply to the NHS On-line
Community Message
Board.
General
Legal Stuff
Free speech does not give you the right
to publicly say whatever you like -- it
actually has many limitations. There are
more laws governing what you can't say than
what you can.
You have the right to certain religious,
political and other beliefs, and you have
the right to express your opinions in an
appropriate way without fear of oppression.
This does not mean you can demean, insult,
slander, character assassinate or offend
other people. You cannot give away personal
information which is not your own. You
cannot publish adult-only material in a
public manner. You cannot publish racist or
hateful material. You cannot force your
opinion on other people against their will.
There are many, many things you can't do.
In addition, although you may have the legal
right to express a certain opinion in a
public place, this does not mean you have
any legal right at all to express this same
opinion on someone else's property or in
someone else's publication, or hence at
NHSOC website.
Censorship
This is a touchy subject but there's no
doubt that a certain amount of discretion is
required to make these forums enjoyable and
productive for the maximum audience. Of
course, there are also legal issues
involved.
We will edit or delete any
message which, in our opinion, falls
into any of the following categories:
• Commercial or Bulk Messages
• Offensive, Insulting or Slanderous
Messages
• Fraudulent Messages
• Accusations of Illegal or Improper Conduct
• Disclosing Personal Details Without
Consent
• Annoying Messages and "Trolling"
Likewise, the Administrator and Moderators
of the NHS On-line Community
Message Board reserve the exclusive
rights to split any message
thread that has gone off-topic or otherwise
needs to be relocated due to content to
another area of the message
board. Site Administrator and Moderators DO
NOT require permission of the original
author(s) to split message
threads.
Suspending
Users
In the event that a user violates any of
these Terms of Acceptable Use we may elect
to impose restrictions on a user, which will
be based on these rules of punishment:
Stage One:
The user will be disallowed access to the
message board for 1
week;
Stage Two:
The user will be disallowed access to the
message board for 2
weeks;
Stage Three:
The user will be disallowed access to
the message board for
1 month;
Stage Four:
The user will be banned and permenantly
disallowed access to the
message board.
Attempts to circumvent the judgment of the
Site Administrator or Moderators will result
in an immediate Stage Three action. One
further offense will result in immediate a
permenant ban from the
message board.
System
Maintenance
From time to time, even the most well
deigned and running systems require
maintenance conducted to them in order to
maintain a high level of stability and
reliability. Periodic maintenance, upgrades
and various other activities will be
conducted by our Site Administrator. Such
maintenance includes server hardware and
software upgrades, database upgrades, web
site upgrades, and cleaning of inactive user
accounts (any account which has not been
used in 6 months plus 1 day is a candidate
for removal, without notification, unless
prior arrangements have been made with the
Site Administrators.)
The Site Administrator will do her best to
notify the user community on the NHS On-line
Community Message
Board of such maintenance, upgrades and
other activities in an appropriate manner,
with a minimum of 24 hours advance notice,
unless an emergency situation arises.

Board Rules
FAQ Page with a set of Message Board Rules
will also be located on the Message
Board Page Header . They are intended to
make this a friendly, safe place for
Novaliches High School friends & family to
interact. Please familiarize yourself with
the rules and respect them.
Some of our rules are summarized below. If
you have any questions about these rules,
please feel free to contact us we will get
back to you as soon as we can.
Please remember your fellow Message Board
members' feelings, and consider those
feelings before sending potentially hurtful
posts. You may not always agree with or
like your fellow Message Board members, but
other people will. Please be courteous and
keep disagreements civil and personal
problems off the Message Board. Our future
moderators will try and help settle
on-forum problems, but we will not get
involved in off-forum disagreements. We
expect our Message Board members to be

problems.
A violation of the rules will result in a
warning from the moderators. First offense
will get a warning via private e-mail.
Second offense will result in all your
posts requiring moderator approval for a
period of two weeks. A third offense will
ban you from the Message Board forever.
The following items are examples of what
will result in moderator warning. These are
only examples. For further information
please see the FAQ and/or Rules pages
(located on the Header Page of the Message
Board):
1. Name calling, personal attacks, and
other "flames" are not allowed.
2.Threats against Message Board members

Posting Images
Just received a lot of inquiries from fellow alumni if they can post
images on the Message Board...The answer
is Yes! Images can indeed be shown in your
posts. However, there is no facility at
present for uploading images directly to
this FREE board. Therefore you must link
to an image stored on a publicly
accessible web server, e.g.http://www.nhsqc.info/my-picture.gif.
You cannot link to pictures stored on your
own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible
server) nor to images stored behind
authentication mechanisms such as Hotmail
or Yahoo mailboxes, password-protected
sites, etc. To display the image use the
BBCode [img] tag or allowed appropriate
HTML
We have recently searched the web for some
free resources and came across
this site...ImageShack(TM)
http://www.imageshack.us For additional information on how to upload
your images and insert on your Board your
message, simply click on the link above.

FORUM ETIQUETTE DETAILS:
The following are not just rules but
also entails common user problems. There
are some important issues covered here,
ranging from images, to flaming, and other
issues, all explained in detail or just
noted upon. I will divide this post. More
might be added in the future as the need
arises.
1. Flaming
We prefer if it did not occur. If it ever comes down to it, and
you are deciding whether to flame or not, remember, if the
general populace think it was ridiculous, you will suffer the
consequences. This also includes just swearing at someone or
insulting them.
Please try to remember: insult the argument if you absolutely
must, but not the person.
That concludes section 1.
2.
Posting Spam and Rubbish
Quite simply, please do not do it. Spam will be deleted, or
similar.
3.
Images and Direct Linking
There are rules that govern this too, and
they must be respected for several
reasons, most of which are regulated by
the sites you are linking from.
Direct Linking:
This is allowed by several sites ONLY, since you are limiting their bandwidth
and internet speed. Muck with them, and it
becomes their issue, and I as your Website
Administrator must by law give your
information to them if you abuse their
rights. No need to worry too much though,
after all, most sites that do not like it,
have safeguard procedures incase of Direct
Linking.
Where Can I direct link from?:
Try
Imageshack.us
for anything concerning uploading. Everyone should know about
IS.us by now
(Note: NHSA On-line Community is not in any way affiliated with
Imageshack.us, we are just using their free resources!)
Censored Images:
These include images with swearing, extreme violence, sex
scenes, and pornography. Potentially, 13
year olds may cruise our website so please
consider them.
Banners:
Some people may choose to place images
into their signatures as well as posts. I have no problem with
this, other than size. People do not want to load an inbedded
wallpaper 7 times a day to see a few new posts of about 10 bytes
each in size. Images are large in size, especially when compared
to text.
56'kers still exist,
so please respect them.

Signature Banner limitations

|
Post Inbedded Images

|
This is the only reasonable way to make sure
everything stays within the size limits. Since images can be
created with high resolution, which of course in turn uses up a
lot more space, images such as this may be rejected.
Since banners cannot usually be direct linked off most sites,
Imageshack.us is your best answer.
Another great annoyance is the pesky animations. I am referring
of course, to banners and avatars. Today, there are many
browsers which permit us to "Stop Animations", however, there
are those still using browsers like IE, so
please refrain from using animations in posts. It distracts people from reading your posts.
Smilies are still fine, since they are considered "a must",
and
because they are small, though anything else, please think about
it before you post.
Another thing everybody.
Direct linking from: Geocites, Angelfire, Tripod does not work.
3.1 Avatars
Everybody, let it be known to you that this forum can convert
avatars, from images as big as wallpapers, however
people's connections can't, and neither can our tolerance of
people who might try to do this. Please respect everyones'
bandwidth, for there are some members and potential members
stuck on 56K modems still.
Another thing, moving things that spin around constantly, or
those that decide to change colours at random times are also
very annoying again if present in banners and avatars.
It is hard reading a FAQ with something like this as an avatar:
Go To Top
|
|
Or
 |
That currently concludes everything about images.
4. Trolls & trolling
Treated just like spam, or worse. Do not do it.
So if you are a troll, or you are just
wondering, you might wish to learn more about what trolling
is...
And PLEASE! Don't say we didn't warn
you, or not even sufficiently.
