Top 10 Excuses Not
to Attend Your
High School Reunion
(and why you should go
anyway...)
1. I have to work.
(Get time off –
if they won’t allow it
then you might as well quit!
Guess there’s no point
in staying…)
2. The kids are in school.
(They won't mind if you
go without them.)
3. I didn't like you then,
why would I like you now?
(We've changed! )
4. I prefer to remember
the class the way we were.
(We haven't changed a bit)
5. My tastes have matured.
(Don’t worry we'll make sure
to hire
The Booze Stop Bar
to do the trick!)
6. I was a loser in
high school.
(Then nobody remembers
- here's your second
chance to make a great
first impression)
7. I haven't lived up
to my potential.
(Whatever)
8. I've gained weight.
(You're not the only one -
don't worry there is not
going to be a
swimsuit competition)
9. I'm on the NBI’s
"Most Wanted" list.
(Don't worry - we have a
strict "Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Policy - what happens at
the reunion stays
at the reunion)
10. I'm in denial about
being out of high school
20 years.
(If you'd like,
we'll tell everyone you
didn't graduate yet.)

Mr. Edward Logan NHS Batch 1993
(Contributed by Norman A. Garcia Batch 1993)
|
Norman A. Garcia ‘93, who got to know Mr. Edward Logan when the
two were in NHS, in the early 90’s recalls that Mr. Logan was
already doing major historical achievements back then. He was also
a conversationalist who, according to Norman is gifted with "fierce debating skills.”
To sum up Edward Logan’s exceptional qualities, here’s Norman’s
insightful view of Mr. Edward Logan NHS Batch 1993 during their
high school days together: |

Please click on
the picture
for a full view |
“According to the father of The Theory on Multiple
Intelligences, Howard Gardener*, there are 8 types of human
intelligence.
Norman A. Garcia, batchmate and a trusted friend of Edward
Logan was convinced that Edward possessed all of the 8 types
of human intelligence as he thoughtfully narrated below:
1.
Visual/Spatial –
Edward has directed numerous stage plays
and is active in the NHS Dance Troupe. He also has a flair
for photography. In fact, he won many photojournalism
contests during our time.
2.
Verbal/Linguistic
– Edward was the feature editor of our
batch Talisman. No one could be a better feature editor
than him. He is also a master of the spoken language as
evident from his fierce debating skills.
3.
Logical/Mathematical – he could have been our country’s
topnotch astronomer after having been inducted as member of
the Philippine Young Astronomer. I often see him answering MENSA trivia questions.
4.
Naturalist
– he is a lover of the great outdoors. He
frequents Baguio City not only to facilitate in student
conferences but also to wander and appreciate the city’s
natural beauty.
5.
Bodily/Kinesthetic
– his lean body enabled him to win
numerous athletics and volleyball competition. He can block
shots of a varsity basketball player. His hyperactivity
stands out above the rest.
6.
Musical/Rhythmical
– his voice can rival our batch
best singers. Lucky for them he was too busy then in extra-curricular
activities.
7. Interpersonal
– Edward is the "barkada" of our batch.
He can communicate verbally and nonverbally with people from
all walks of life. He was the chief organizer of our many
high school
activities back then. I always see him running around the campus
doing multiple tasks.
8. Intrapersonal
– he is highly skilled in inner focusing.
In fact, he has a vast knowledge in astral travel.”
* Howard Gardner on Multiple Intelligences and Education
Howard Gardner's work around multiple intelligences has had
a profound impact on thinking and practice in education -
especially in the United States. It explored the theory of
multiple intelligences; why it has found a ready audience
amongst educationalists; and some of the issues around its
conceptualization and realization.
For more information on Howard Gardner please visit:

Every Child Is Ready to Read...
Brain
research has demonstrated that for children to become literate learners
and problem solvers, their brains must be stimulated to ensure that
neural synapses connect at a very early age.
Understanding that language acquisition is a primary factor for brain
stimulation, here at Novaliches High School Alumni On-line Community, we
would like to remind & encourage all members: parents and caregivers to
read aloud to your children. They are the future of our country and the
heroes of tomorrow...!!

Mr. Edward Logan NHS Batch 1993
|

Mr. Edward Logan
NHS Batch 1993 |
It's
easy to say that the experiences in one's life are the result of past
activities, but the forces of this law are greater than we may first
imagine. Has Edward Logan’s success purely attributable
from his fate? Or was it pure zealousness that made it all happen?
Whatever it is, Edward’s passion for success even at an early age is
palpable and is truly admirable.
|
|
Edward

|
At such a
young age, was it
really fate or his own free will that drives Mr. Edward Logan towards success? Fate or not, cultivating a wide-ranging
intellectual curiosity at a very young age was indeed Edward
Logan’s hallmark as NHS alumnus, and none of us could
doubt the excellent quality of his learning, lightly worn, the breadth of
his scholarship, and his great concern for other’s welfare. Edward
truly uses his intelligence to its
best effect, sharing his own ideas and insights in helping others
overcome life’s adversities.
Truth
be told, he is
just the kind of person that Novaliches High School always aspires to produce....
From all of us members of NHS Alumni On-line Community, we say
Congratulations Edward! We are all very proud of YOU!!

NHS DONATION
SPECIAL UPDATE:
(Author: Chona
Villafuerte-Go)
"Received a lot of e-mails from
members of our On-line Community
even from those who were not able
to graduate from NHS (reason of
course was they moved or
transferred to another school)
pledging their support to help out
NHS but many can't send their
donations in time for this year's
Recognition day. Again, Thank YOU
so much!! A lot of them also asked
for additional information or what
our school needs to improve upon
or make donations to and so I have
asked our current NHS
Administration & also our Guidance
Personnel to inform us of their
on-going projects or current needs
so we can help them out.
(Currently, I'm waiting for other
e-mail from NHS Administration and
i'll be posting them here also.)
Special thanks to Mr. Gilore E.
Ofrancia for his immediate
response and the following are
some answers to our questions
regarding making a donation to NHS.
FYI Mr. Gilore E. Ofrancia is our
current NHS Guidance personnel."

Special Thanks to Mike Bote Batch

prizes to all 19 NHS honor students for
Graduating Class of 2005. Thank
YOU Mike, Norman & Edward for lending a
helping hand...We'll join all of

begin with, here are some of my
ideas (my own opinion): 1. Amend
the Constitution specifically on
the following: a. make the
legislature an unicameral body; b.
the form of government from
presidential to parliamentary
where the head of government is
the prime minister. 2. To ease
traffic congestion in Metro Manila
