giving back
NHS has long been proud of its mission to prepare students with the
character and skills needed to be productive members of today’s
society. While this can be said of most high school experiences,
there’s something truly inspiring about our alma mater - it is made of
more than just bricks and mortar! Simply taking a tour of our on-line
community one can truly sense the commitment, respect, expertise, and
dedication of our NHS community at large.
For NHSOC, alumni “Giving Back” projects are a
vital part of a Reunion. Most of our alumni find that we are more
comfortable providing support to individual areas of interest, such as
the NHS eLibrary, computer room, school activities, or in a special
program. Thus, it is but important for us to consider our NHSOC Alumni
“Giving Back” Project as a whole carefully and to work with the Class
Special Project Committee closely before proceeding with a project to
ensure its success and provide our alma mater (with it’s current
student population) and the NHSOC members great rewards now and for
years to come.

NHSOC IS STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE IN HELPING BUILD NHS FUTURE!
Importance
of Giving
The sad fact that the expense in providing an individualized,
structured, and specialized education is often a foreign concept sadly
to many public schools (like NHS) and cannot be covered by government
funding alone. Fundraising is one way in which NHS alumni bridges the
gap between government support and operating/capital expenses. It is
clear that the generosity of those who care so much about NHS has had
a major impact on our school, the faculty and its current students.

On Tap for 2006... NHS eLibray NEEDS OUR HELP!!!
Whatever your affiliation with NHS (alumni, parent, grandparent,
past & present students even friends), we hope that you will please
consider making a gift to our school’s eLibrary.
Novaliches High School’s eLibrary Needs the
following:
1. Computers & CD writers
Ms.
Dina Valenzuela (2006 eLibrary in-charge) said, “At present
there are only 2 computers functioning at NHS. Our enrolled students
this year more or less is 7,000. NHS has a computer lab but only those
students who are enrolled in the computer class are allowed to use it.
Inside the library, all the students are given the opportunity to use
the computers in allotted time to allow more students/researchers use
in a day”
2. Photocopying machines - This will avoid students from
tearing off pages from the limited NHS collection of books and printed
materials from magazines, local & international subscriptions, teacher
journals, yearbooks, atlas, almanacs, thesaurus, and other reference
materials available in the library.
3. Air conditioning & electric fans
4. LCD TV and Projectors (for viewing educational CD-ROMs for
class discussion)
5. Licensed Educational CD-ROMs: Encarta, CCP Encyclopedia
(Philippines) and other educational CD-ROMs.

aiming to bring together teachers, students, parents, private
organizations and communities to clean up as well as do minor repairs
for the beautification of our school and in preparation for the
opening of classes last June. NHSOC provided the volunteers with
refreshments (lunch, snacks & drinks) costing us about P14,729.00 in

Rommel Buriel Batch 1986 (at P1,000.00 each), plus 10 pcs. of “walis

As we continue to address the needs of our alma mater, one of the many
pursuits of our NHSOC website has been our responsibilities that
alumni and students continuously have a vested interest in helping our
School stay as one of the best public high school in Quezon City.
In 2005, our fund raising focused on funding our NHSOC’s 1st
anniversary reunion celebration and donating a drinking fountain for
our school. And thanks to the generosity of our donors, we really had
them both.
